香港伦理 Cyber Wildcats Place in Top 10 at Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

Cyber Wildcats advance to Mid-Atlantic CCDC Regional Finals March 25 - 28.

After intense competition at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (MACCDC), the 香港伦理 Cyber Wildcats team was ranked in the top 10 of 32 competing schools. This achievement advances the team to the 10th MACCDC Regional Finals March 25-28 at Johns Hopkins University.

Presented by National CyberWatch, this prestigious competition allows the best college and university cyber security students in the region to test their  knowledge and skills in a competitive environment.

In the qualifying round of competition on Saturday, March 7, the Cyber Wildcats competed with 20 other cyber teams and finished second behind Towson University. The team placed ahead of the University of Maryland, James Madison University, George Mason University, University of West Virginia, Millersville University, Capitol Technical University and others after stiff competition.

The MACCDC is similar to other cyber defense competitions. However, as part of the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, its unique focus is on the operational aspects of managing and protecting  existing network infrastructure.

Over 300 students competed in this premier event. The Cyber Wildcats and every other cyber team worked to meet the following competition objectives:

·  Build a meaningful mechanism by which institutions of higher education may evaluate their programs.

·  Provide an educational venue in which students are able to apply the theory and skills they have learned in their course work.

·   Foster a spirit of teamwork, ethical behavior and effective communication both within and across teams.

·   Open dialog and awareness among participating institutions and students.

The team that places first at the Mid-Atlantic CCDC regional finals this month will advance to the National CCDC competition that will be held in San Antonio, Texas, April 24-26.

"A special thank you goes to Eric Arnoth, adjunct faculty member and faculty advisor to the Cyber Wildcats," said Dr. Mark Hufe, Director, Cyber Security Education in the College of Technology. "Eric did a tremendous job in preparing all of the Cyber Wildcats for this difficult competition. The students were ready for anything the competition presented."
