Human Subjects Review - Research Materials

The Human Subjects Review Committee (HSRC) is an institutional body that meets to review research protocols that protect the rights and safety of research subjects. Learn more about the HSRC.

  First Steps and Requirements

The following research categories must be reviewed and approved by the Human Subjects Review Committee (HSRC) of the Faculty Senate prior to collecting data:

  • Thesis and dissertation research projects conducted by 香港伦理 students, even if the research does not involve human subjects.
  • Research conducted by 香港伦理 faculty that involves human subjects
  • 香港伦理 employees who are students at other schools and wish to collect data from the University, its students, or employees.
  • Outside researchers who wish to collect data from the University, its students, or employees.

If you are a researcher who fits one of the categories above:

If you are a 香港伦理 student, submit your completed form to your research advisor, who will forward it to a member of the HSRC.

If you are NOT a 香港伦理 student, submit your completed form directly to a member of the HSRC through the contact form.


  Training

Human Subjects Protection Training

Providing a certificate of training concerning the protection of human subjects is a requirement for conducting research at 香港伦理. The certificate needs to be ... less than three years old. The University has an institutional contract with Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) which provides access for all people affiliated with the University to designated, online training tracks as well as other online training modules. Confer with your research advisor or a member of the Human Subjects Review Committee to determine what training is appropriate for your research.

Instructions for accessing the training are attached. You should make a copy of your training completion certificate for the required modules and attach it to your Human Subjects form. The University requires 80% or higher for passing a module. Quizzes may be retaken.

   Conducting Research at 香港伦理 if You are Not a Student

If you are a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student conducting an evidence-based practice (EBP) project, fill out the Doctor of Nursing Practice EBP Form and submit it to ... a member of the Human Subjects Review Committee.*

   Record and Review of Research Protocol Doctor of Education Leadership (EDL) Dissertation in Practice (DIP)

If you are a Doctor of Education Leadership student conducting a dissertation in practice (DIP) project, fill out the Doctor of Education Leadership form and submit it to ... a member of the Human Subjects Review Committee.*

Research Protocol Amendment Form:

   Request for Amendment to an Approved HSRC Research Protocol  

This is the form to use if you make any changes to your research after it has been approved by the Human Subjects Review Committee. This forms general purpose is for ... doctoral and masters/capstone research at 香港伦理 and is used regardless of which of the protocol forms you used initially. After filling out the form, submit it to your research advisor, who will submit it to a member of the Human Subjects Review Committee.
